Increase in Demand for Bangladeshi Flags in Pakistan Following Sheikh Hasina’s Regime Change

After the fall of the pro India regime in Bangladesh, there has been a significant increase in the demand for Bangladeshi flags in Pakistan. This surge in interest can be attributed to a variety of factors that have emerged in the political landscape of the region. The changing dynamics have led to a noticeable shift in how people in Pakistan are expressing their sentiments and affiliations. As a result, the Bangladeshi flag has become a symbol of solidarity and support inside Pakistan.

Why Indonesia and Thailand's bid for OECD membership could be a game changer

Indonesia and Thailand are bidding to become the first Southeast Asian countries to join the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Accession will require them to meet stringent standards across a range of areas from transparency to the environment. OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann said the "accession processes will benefit Indonesia and Thailand as well as the OECD." Since its founding in the 1960s, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has been associated with select middle- and high-income countries.  In recent months, however, the OECD began accession talks with  Indonesia and  Thailand , a historic move that could pave the way for the first southeast Asian countries to join the 38-country bloc. What is the OECD? The OECD is an international organization based in Paris, France, that aims to promote policies that improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. It functions as a platform for g

Over 1,500 Israeli settlers led by Minister Ben-Gvir, storm Al-Aqsa Mosque

Storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been one of the Israeli occupation’s provocative policies towards the Palestinian people, exemplifying the fact that the end goal of the Zionist project is incompatible with any semblance of Palestinian sovereignty August 13, 2024  by  Aseel Saleh Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir. Photo: Wikimedia Commons/ שי קנדלר  In a new assault on sacred places within the occupied Palestinian capital of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), around 1,500 illegal Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa mosque compound on Tuesday, August 13. The settlers were led by Israeli Minister of National Security  Itamar Ben-Gvir  , and Minister for the Development of the Periphery, the Negev and the Galilee Yitzhak Wasserlauf. The attack comes as Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza completes 10 months, and Israel’s continuous provocations have put the ceasefire talks in jeopardy. The assault was not limited to storming the holy site as Jewish rituals were also performed there in

15 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Strike on Central Gaza

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least 15 people have been reported killed, with some still missing, after the Israeli military bombed a warehouse reportedly sheltering displaced Palestinians in the az-Zawayda area of central Gaza.  Israel has ordered mass evacuations in northern and southern Gaza, including areas in the south it previously designated as “safe zones”, while at least 15 people were reported killed in an overnight Israeli attack on displaced people in central Gaza’s az-Zawayda, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported on Saturday. Footage posted by our Al Jazeera Arabic showed rescue crews recovering bodies as they search through the rubble of a now-destroyed warehouse, which was said to be housing displaced Palestinians. The Israeli military has also bombed a house in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood of Gaza City, killing at least one person and injuring more, the Wafa news agency reports. US ‘Biggest Nuclear Threat’: China

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The United States poses the greatest danger to the world when it comes to the risks of a potential nuclear conflict, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang told journalists on Friday. Beijing has accused Washington of making “irresponsible decisions” in attempts to maintain its hegemony, including through intimidating the international community with its nuclear arsenal, RT reported. The damning statement came in response to the Pentagon’s decision to upgrade US Forces Japan into a joint force headquarters under the command of a three-star officer reporting to the commander of the Indo-Pacific Command. The announcement was made by the US Defense Department in late July following the meeting of the American and Japanese defense and foreign policy chiefs. US Defense Secretary Llyod Austin hailed the development as “one of the strongest improvements in our military ties with Japan in 70 years” at that time. He also said that the two sides “held a separate

Iranian Diplomat Hails Hamas’ Non-Attendance in Doha Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of office for the protection of the interests of Iran in Egypt praised the decision by the Hamas resistance movement to absent itself from a new round of talks in Qatar on a ceasefire in Gaza, where the Israeli regime has killed over 40,000 Palestinians since October 2023. In a post on his X account, Mohammad Hossein Soltanifar said Hamas has adopted a “decisive and correct” stance by deciding to not attend the fresh round of talks in Doha, participated by Israeli officials. Taking a swipe at the Zionist regime for reneging on its commitments, he reaffirmed Iran’s support for the Palestinian nation and the resistance axis in the fulfillment of their legitimate rights. The diplomat then pointed to the Israeli assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, noting that once the resistance accepts a ceasefire deal and agrees on the return of the displaced people of Gaza as a revenge for the martyrdom of Haniyeh, then Iran may forgo its right to reveng

The US reasserts its support for Israel’s massacres by selling it 20 billion in arms

Scores of people have been killed and injured in the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank and southern Lebanon within the last 24 hours. The new massacres coincided with the United States’ approval of a USD 20 billion arms sale package on Wednesday, August 14. The Pentagon  announced in a statement on Wednesday that the package includes 50 F-15 jets and equipment valued at around USD 19 billion, tank cartridges valued at USD 774 million, explosive mortar cartridges valued at over USD 60 million, and army vehicles valued at USD 583 million. “The United States is committed to the security of Israel, and it is vital to US national interests to assist Israel to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability,” the State Department commented on the arms sale approval. While the United States provides Israel with the needed destructive tools claiming that Israel is launching a large-scale war out of self-defense, Israel has massacred thousands of civilians across West Asia

Bangladesh Says UN to Probe ‘Atrocities’ Committed during Unrest

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A United Nations team will travel to Bangladesh to investigate “atrocities” committed during the unrest that toppled premier Sheikh Hasina last week, the country’s interim government said in a statement Thursday. “The United Nations is sending a UN fact finding team next week to probe atrocities committed during the Student Revolution in July and early this month,” the statement said, AFP reported. It added that the move had been discussed between UN human rights chief Volker Turk and interim Bangladeshi leader Muhammad Yunus during a phone call late Wednesday. The statement said the fact-finding mission would be tasked with investigating “widespread human rights abuses.” Hasina’s government was accused of many such abuses during her 15 years in power, including the mass detention and extrajudicial killing of political opponents. She fled by helicopter to India — where she remains — 10 days ago as student-led protests flooded Dhaka’s streets in a dramatic end to her

Police Back on Bangladesh Capital’s Streets As Strike Ends

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Bangladeshi police resumed patrols of the capital Dhaka on Monday, ending a weeklong strike that left a law and order vacuum following the abrupt ouster of autocratic ex-premier Sheikh Hasina. Officers vanished from the streets of the sprawling megacity of 20 million people last week after Hasina’s resignation and flight abroad ended her 15-year rule, AFP reported. Police were loathed for spearheading a lethal crackdown on the weeks of protests that forced her departure, with 42 officers among the more than 450 people killed. Police had vowed not to resume work until their safety on duty was guaranteed, but they agreed to return after late-night talks with the new interim government, helmed by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. “It’s good to be back,” assistant commissioner Snehasish Das said while standing at a busy intersection directing traffic. “As we feel secure now, we are back on duty.” Student-led protests against Hasina’s government had been largely peaceful

Poll: US Public Support for Israel Wanes as 68 Percent Call for Ceasefire

TEHRAN (FNA)- Israel’s war on Gaza is upsetting many Americans who think it must follow growing demands for an immediate ceasefire, according to a new poll. The Reuters/Ipsos survey found only 32 percent of respondents said “the US should support Israel”. That is down from 41 percent from a poll conducted on October 12-13 – just days after the war broke out. About 68 percent of respondents said they agreed with the statement, “Israel should call a ceasefire and try to negotiate”. Some 39 percent supported the idea “the US should be a neutral mediator”, compared with 27 percent a month earlier. Only 4 percent of respondents said the United States should support Palestinians, while 15 percent said the US shouldn’t be involved at all in the war. While the US has been a significant Israeli ally, just 31 percent of respondents said they supported sending Israel weapons. The plunge in support fol
