The demonstration, made up mostly of Jewish New Yorkers, took over the main hall of the iconic station and blocked its main concourse. Organizers called the peaceful sit-in “the largest civil disobedience New York City has seen in 20 years.” The New York Police Department said at least 200 people had been arrested, while organizers put the number at more than 300. Photos from the scene showed long lines of young people standing in handcuffs and wearing black sweatshirts with the words “Not In Our Name” and “Cease Fire Now” printed in white. The sit-in was called by the group Jewish Voice for Peace-New York City, which said thousands of its members had attended the protest, blocking the main concourse of the city’s central rail station. The Palestinian struggle to resist the occupation is legitimate, as is the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with al-Quds as its capital,” they said, according to the Middle East Monitor. “We also strongly denounce the positions of countries and bodies that support the Israeli war government and deplore the double standards being app...

US SENATOR: FBI RECEIVED 'CRIMINAL INFORMATION' FROM OVER 40 CONFIDENTIAL SOURCES ON BIDEN, HUNTER

TEHRAN (FNA)- The FBI maintained more than 40 confidential human sources on various criminal matters related to the Biden family, including Joe Biden, dating back to his time as vice president, according to information obtained by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa. The confidential human sources "provided criminal information to the FBI relating to Joe Biden, James Biden, and Hunter Biden". Those confidential human sources were managed by multiple FBI field offices across the nation, including the FBI’s Seattle Field Office, Fox News reported. But Grassley learned that an FBI task force within the Washington Field Office sought to, and in some cases, successfully, shut down reporting and information from those sources by falsely discrediting the information as foreign disinformation. That effort "caused investigative activity to cease". However, despite those efforts by the FBI t...

AMERICANS STRUGGLING TO PAY THEIR DEBTS AS ECONOMY TIGHTENS

TEHRAN (FNA)- Americans are having a harder time making interest payments as savings are shrinking and a barrage of interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve have jacked up the cost of financing. Delinquency rates on credit cards, mortgages and auto payments have all been ticking up as the level of household savings, which swelled under stimulus payments handed out during the pandemic, have been declining, The Hill reported. Sixty-day car payment delinquencies for people with bad credit hit an all-time record of 6.1 percent in September, up from 5.8 percent in August, according to data from Fitch Ratings. That’s the highest level of lateness since the company first started tallying rates in 1994. Ninety-day delinquency on credit cards has increased to 5.1 percent, up from 3.4 percent in the second quarter of last year, Federal Reserve data shows. “The steady increase in delinquencies for...

IRAN'S IRGC SPOKESMAN WARNS ISRAEL AGAINST GROUND INCURSION OF GAZA

TEHRAN (FNA)- Spokesman of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif praised the Palestinian fighters’ largest-ever military blow to Israel, and further advised the Zionist regime to take lesson from Hamas' multi-pronged surprise operation and cancel any potential land invasion of the besieged Gaza Strip. Brig. Gen. Sharif made the remarks in a gathering on Wednesday in the Western Iranian city of Boroujen, as Israel is preparing on to start a ground assault in the besieged territory. The Zionist regime has conducted heavy artillery and air strikes against the territory in preparation for a ground attack. The spokesperson stated that the Israeli regime has lost face in its recent war with the Palestinian resistance movements amid relentless bombardment of the Gaza Strip. “Even if the Zionists bomb all of Gaza, their military and security dignity wil...

Poll: US Public Support for Israel Wanes as 68 Percent Call for Ceasefire

TEHRAN (FNA)- Israel’s war on Gaza is upsetting many Americans who think it must follow growing demands for an immediate ceasefire, according to a new poll. The Reuters/Ipsos survey found only 32 percent of respondents said “the US should support Israel”. That is down from 41 percent from a poll conducted on October 12-13 – just days after the war broke out. About 68 percent of respondents said they agreed with the statement, “Israel should call a ceasefire and try to negotiate”. Some 39 percent supported the idea “the US should be a neutral mediator”, compared with 27 percent a month earlier. Only 4 percent of respondents said the United States should support Palestinians, while 15 percent said the US shouldn’t be involved at all in the war. While the US has been a significant Israeli ally, just 31 percent of respondents said they supported sending Israel weapons. The plunge in support...

US ‘Biggest Nuclear Threat’: China

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The United States poses the greatest danger to the world when it comes to the risks of a potential nuclear conflict, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang told journalists on Friday. Beijing has accused Washington of making “irresponsible decisions” in attempts to maintain its hegemony, including through intimidating the international community with its nuclear arsenal, RT reported. The damning statement came in response to the Pentagon’s decision to upgrade US Forces Japan into a joint force headquarters under the command of a three-star officer reporting to the commander of the Indo-Pacific Command. The announcement was made by the US Defense Department in late July following the meeting of the American and Japanese defense and foreign policy chiefs. US Defense Secretary Llyod Austin hailed the development as “one of the strongest improvements in our military ties with Japan in 70 years” at that time. He also said that the two sides “held a separ...
