NAVY COMMANDER: IRAN TO SET UP PERMANENT BASE IN ANTARCTICA

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said that Iran will set up a permanent station in Antarctica. "We have ownership in Antarctica and the plan is to hoist the Iranian flag there and establish a permanent base," Admiral Irani said. Iranian officials have previously talked about the need for a permanent station in Antarctica. For example, Managing Director of the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography (INIO) Vahid Chegini told Iranian media back in 2012 that there were plans for a permanent station at the South Pole within the following three years, a plan that has yet to materialize. Iranian FM, Hezbollah Leader Discuss Regional Developments

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary General of the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement Seyed Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met in Beirut on Thursday for talks on the latest regional developments. The top Iranian diplomat and the Hezbollah chief exchanged views on regional issues, with a particular focus on Palestine and Lebanon, according to Iran's Ambassador to Beirut, Mojtaba Amani. Amani stated that Amirabdollahian and Nasrallah also discussed potential future events in the region, efforts to halt Israel's atrocities against Gaza, possible scenarios regarding the ongoing war, and the global collective responsibility concerning "the historic and determining development." Poll: US Public Support for Israel Wanes as 68 Percent Call for Ceasefire

TEHRAN (FNA)- Israel’s war on Gaza is upsetting many Americans who think it must follow growing demands for an immediate ceasefire, according to a new poll. The Reuters/Ipsos survey found only 32 percent of respondents said “the US should support Israel”. That is down from 41 percent from a poll conducted on October 12-13 – just days after the war broke out. About 68 percent of respondents said they agreed with the statement, “Israel should call a ceasefire and try to negotiate”. Some 39 percent supported the idea “the US should be a neutral mediator”, compared with 27 percent a month earlier. Only 4 percent of respondents said the United States should support Palestinians, while 15 percent said the US shouldn’t be involved at all in the war.
