This is the fresh blow to India Canada ties, India was already unhappy over the activities of Nijjar and other Khalistani political workers in Canada. Earlier today Canada expelled Indian diplomat over this issue and hours later India also expelled Canadian diplomat in tat-for-tat moves. Apart from diplomatic set back, this development is now threatening Canada India trade ties also as both countries have postponed the talks on a proposed trade deals.

Over 800,000 members of Sikh community are living in Canada, many of them are the supporters of Khalistan movement. Deceased Nijjar was also among them, he supported the creation of Sikh country in Indian state of Punjab which is also home of Sikh people and the birthplace of the Sikh religion.
In his speech at House of Commons Trudeau said, 'Any involvement of a foreign government in the killing of a Canadian citizen was "an unacceptable violation of our sovereignty". This statement suggests that the ongoing diplomatic row is not going to be resolved in near future and India has to answer for these allegations but initially India has refused to provide answers for these allegations instead India's foreign ministry has said that it had given the Canadian diplomat five days to leave the country and that there has been an interference of Canadian diplomats in India's internal matters and their involvement in anti India activities, Indian ministry of foreign affairs has issued an statement which says " Allegations of the government of India's involvement in any act of violence in Canada are absurd and motivated" India has further said that the government of Canada should take prompt and effective legal action against all anti-India elements operating from their soil.

Meanwhile Canada is updated the travel advisory for its citizens in India which says "Avoid all travel to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir due to the unpredictable security situation. There is a threat of terrorism, militancy, civil unrest and kidnapping. This advisory excludes travelling to or within the Union Territory of Ladakh,"
Canada has been actively seeking the support of its western partners in this issue, statement of G7 members would be important in this regards.
